Cycle 4

Year 5 – Amethyst

Cycle 4

I am so proud to be working with the year 5 children who have worked hard to progress their learning during this term. They have adapted so well to having a new teacher and have been so welcoming.

Cycle 2

What a fantastic start to the year! Year 5 have been working tirelessly and have already shown a huge amount of progress. We have won the attendance trophy many times and I hope that we will continue to do so.

The amount of children who are coming to school without their diary signed is becoming more common, therefore, I ask for your full cooperation to ensure your child is ready at home daily and has his/ her diary signed. Children receive a Class Dojo point for reading at home, therefore, this helps your child towards achieving 35 Dojos, to take part in the Dojo treat.

PE:

PE lessons are on Fridays only, as we also take part in swimming lessons on a Thursday. We suggest your child brings their kit in at the beginning of the week, to ensure that they do not forget it, and take it home on a Friday to be washed. Please ensure your child is wearing the correct PE kit with suitable footwear.

Miss Gilmore

Welcome back to a new year at Brentnall; I hope that everyone has had a lovely break. I would like to welcome your child to Year 5.

Your Year 5 teacher this year is Miss Gilmore and we are fortunate to be joined by Mrs Weston, throughout the year.

Uniform:

Everybody is looking very smart in their new uniforms; we ask that children’s names can be written in all uniform items, to ensure no uniform is lost throughout the year. Please ensure your child continues to wear the correct uniform throughout the year.

Attendance/ Punctuality:

To ensure the best possible progress in Year 5, your child needs to attend school every day and arrive on time each day. We want to lead the battle for Team 5 to win the attendance award and we can only do this with your help; it would be great to receive 100%. Please inform school immediately of the reason for any pupil absence.

Homework:

This year homework will be sent out on a Friday and should be returned to school on a Wednesday. Each week, homework will include a piece of maths and a set of spellings that will be tested on a Friday.

Every child in Year 5 has been provided with a school diary, this should be taken home every night along with a reading book that has been chosen by your child. The diary is to be signed and returned the next day, to show your child has read at home (15-20 minutes). Children who fail to complete their homework, will have to complete during lunchtime.

PE:

PE lessons are on Mondays and Fridays. We suggest your child brings their kit in at the beginning of the week, to ensure that they do not forget it, and take it home on a Friday to be washed. Please ensure your child is wearing the correct PE kit with suitable footwear.
