Cycle 4

Hooray!!! Year 6 SATs are over and we are incredibly proud of how hard they have all worked. All the hard work has paid off this year so far and we are confident that all children worked to the best of their ability during test week. A huge well done to the children!

Welcome to Year 6

Year 6 Aquamarine – Miss Smail

I am Miss Smail, Aquamarine’s class teacher, and I am also new to Year 6 this year. I cannot wait to see what the year has to offer. I am positive the children will have a successful and enjoyable year. Here are a few reminders of the expectations of Year 6 and some of the coverage in this Cycle.

Uniform

In Year 6, children’s uniform should consist of blazer, burgundy sweater (with or without school logo), white shirt, black or grey skirt or trousers, black or grey pinafore, white or black tights (no leggings), plain white or black socks and black shoes (no visible logos). Please ensure you put the name in your child’s uniform and if your child loses any part of their uniform that I am informed so we can help find it, or a new order is placed as soon as possible. Please also ensure all shirts are tucked in and uniform remains smart throughout year.

Homework

Homework is given out weekly on a Friday and needs to be returned by the following Wednesday. This will include a piece of Maths homework and spellings to learn weekly. In addition, each cycle, there will be a topic based homework project for the children to enjoy creating with you at home. Homework is encouraged as an extension to their learning within class so is compulsory.

Diary

The children have all got reading books and will be bringing them home each night to read with you. Their diary is for you to sign to show your child has read at home for 15-20 minutes per night. This is a really important time of the day to encourage reading for pleasure with your child.

Behaviour

This year, we have introduced Dojo points, which is an online system for children to be able to earn positive points for following our school values of ‘Learn’, ‘Respect’ and ‘Succeed’. When children display behaviour which reflects these values, a dojo point will be given. These points can be taken off if negative behaviour is displayed.

P.E.

Children will be doing P.E. on Mondays and Tuesdays so will require their full P.E. kit for these days only. P.E kits are to be brought in to school every Monday and taken home to be washed on Friday. The correct uniform for P.E. is:

  • White t-shirt
  • Black trainers/ pumps
  • Black trousers, leggings or shorts

Starting from Thursday 11thOctober, Aquamarine- Year 6 will be swimming for 6 weeks every Thursday so please can you ensure your child brings their kit every Thursday. This requires:

  • Swimming costume/trunks
  • Towel
  • Swimming hat
  • Swimming socks (if required)
  • Swimming bag
