Punctuality
To ensure the best possible learning in school your child needs to arrive on time (8.50am) and attend school every day.
Uniform
Mr. Thompson has recently sent out a letter regarding uniform. Please see this letter if you are unsure of the correct uniform attire. Children should also be practising tying shoe laces and buttoning up their own shirts.
Homework
The homework sent home each week is vital to your child’s learning as they need to apply their skills that they have learnt during the week. Please encourage your child to complete their homework carefully and neatly, ensuring that they work independently. Then sit with them to look back at their work to check it.
Homework will be given on a Friday:
- Spellings – to be practised each week, for our spelling test.
- Maths homework – to be completed weekly.
Homework needs to come back to school on a Wednesday.
If your child needs extra support with the homework or fails to return it to school they will be asked to complete this during Thursday lunchtime.
Reading
Reading is such an important skill in your child’s development and we are aiming to listen to children read every day. Children should read to you every night to develop their confidence, fluency and expression. Please add a small comment in their reading record to say how they have read. It is important to question your child’s understanding of what they have read. Pupils who read regularly at home tend to make the most significant progress.
Reading books need to come to school every day with a small comment in the reading records. Reading books will be changed every Monday morning.
PE
PE lessons are on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We suggest that your child brings their kit in at the beginning of term and leaves it in school until the end of term to ensure that they do not forget it. Please refer back to the uniform letter to see the correct PE attire.
We look forward to our exciting term ahead. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
Times Tables
It is expected that by the end of Year 2 pupils know, recite and understand the 2, 3, 5 and 10 times tables. We will cover this in class but please practise at home as well. The children know some songs to practise.
Thank you for your continued support. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
